in-person calligraphy workshops
I teach in-person beginner workshops for both pointed nib and brush calligraphy at the West Oxford Community Centre, close to the centre of Oxford.
I now cover the area of Reading in Berkshire, too, teaching at The Calcot Centre.

Online calligraphy
I also teach a number of online calligraphy workshops and courses for The Modern Calligraphy Co, including a 10 week online beginners nib course, a 5 week brush calligraphy course, as well as having previously taught watercolour calligraphy courses.

Watercolour is a beautiful medium for creating wonderfully loose calligraphy. I teach the basics of water brush calligraphy, as well as how to create simple but effective florals and foliage in a relaxing 10 week online course.
My next 10 week course begins on Tuesday 16th April until the 18th June, and the sessions run from 7-9pm. Recordings are provided in case you’d like to re-visit or catch up on a missed session.
The art of calligraphy is known for its meditative qualities, but did you know that calligraphy can help to combat anxiety and improve your emotional well-being?
According to a study by University College of London, calligraphy can help block anxiety and boost self esteem. Of the study of 50,000 people, 69% consequently took up calligraphy as a hobby, and just over 50% would continue to use it as a ‘contemplation tool’.
I would love to help you to learn this beautiful art form in a relaxed, informal environment, and send you away with a wonderful new skill to take further!
creative craft shows & corporate workshops
Several times a year, I teach at the Creative Craft Shows in both Birmingham and Farnborough, where I help workshop attendees to get started with pointed nib and brush calligraphy!
